Mangles Bay and Point Peron

The Mangles Bay Marina development has been getting a lot of attention lately. The Conservation Council of Western Australia has taken issue with plans for Point Peron and it has been suggested that the plans are potentially destructive and unpopular with local Rockingham residents. Cedar Woods, the developer, has responded to concerns with answers that try to alleviate concerns and stress that they have the best intentions with the development which aims to benefit the community in numerous ways and that their plans do not involve causing problems for Point Peron. In addition, they state that their proposal is an improvement to plans made in the 1990’s.

Features and benefits proposed for the area include:

  • Tourist areas and facilities
  • Pens for charter operators
  • Landscaping
  • A Marina
  • Better public beach access
  • A site is planned for a Marine Science Centre
  • Public boat parking, and more

Cedar Woods wants their development to provide benefits to homeowners businesses, and tourists. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has been heavily involved and the public has had a chance to weigh in on the issue as well.
